What to do?.

So the idea of staying in crested butte..a great one but not in the off season we applied everywhere with no luck and us having ants in our pants decided to leave..what a surprise! But while we were there we were treated extremely well by everyone one of the allures. Helped with the tire situation. Went into a tiny coffee shop called Buckaroo Coffee and was gifted a hook up my a woman called mama and there was a reason for that. Having hitch hiked and been in our place before gave us a seriously amazing deal on coffee and bagels, gave us so much advice on the town, gave us the "day olds", and had us clean up the place for some cash! We were and still are so grateful for her! We also found a place to stay with two awesome guys, but ya need a job for that!
Continuing our journey feeling a little down..started driving off and went to Gunnison of the idea east or west winter time. While we were there we got blessed with a half tank of gas and met some really awesome kids Wes and Matt. Both offered a place for us to stay but declined and kept driving. Today we will sell jewelry and play music all day and hopefully get us a tire and gas :)
Life is simple and we come to realize it everyday. Life is short and we should take advantage of all that we have now, not to stress about something we know will work itself out. It is a challenge some days but we both remind each other that all will be well and keep on smilin'!!

Crested Butte

Just got done playing in the mountains hiding out and playing. Spent our time relaxing widdling, foraging, running a muck with the dogs, having amazing meals, hiking through are small deserted area, making baskets, and just having a good old time! When we got to our spot right next to a stream there was a note hanging from a tree stating that the last people who had stayed here had made a huge mess littering the whole area and to be warned that bears had come every night for to weeks, needless to say machete sharpened his machete and no bears paid us a visit. We were waiting though haha it was are fun little game!
The weather has been perfect nice and warm during the day and cool at night! The aspen trees are unreal here apparently they are the largest living organism all the trees are intertwined with one another!! We found enormous mushrooms as big as our heads! We are constantly surrounded by huge mountains couldn't be more perfect. On the evening we decided to leave and get to Crested Butte we drove only about four miles and then..our tire poped..another one haha! But with both of us being as optimistic as we are said meh lets go to bed and take care of it in the morning and so we did. We got picked up by this couple yogi and Joanie who drove us all the way down the mountain to a gas station and unfortunately all the service shops were closed!! Haha!! Oh boy! We told them we would figure something out and they drove off saying they'd come check on us in a few hours (absolutely sweet) We sat outside the station for a minute when machete said, "why don't I ask someone if we could borrow there spare and bring it back down." First person that walks out he asks and the guy said no problem!! Him and his lady friend drove us all the way up there thinking his spare was only a little bigger tried it out and ofcourse too big! To our amazement they drove us all they way back with our tire helped us patch it and again brought us all the way back!! It the midst of our patching the other couple that picked us up first gave us a restaurant to go to and they had told the owner about us and he said come in down!! Yay some work!! And finally had the tire together started driving off and the muffler broke off haha holy life what's happening!!! We fixed it though!! Now going back into the woods a few miles out of town setting up camp and going to work for a bit!! Everything always works out!!
Aspen trees!

Rocky Mountain High

In Colorado now!! And it sure is sweet! We left the swamp and headed to Texas, not our favorite place at all. We kept getting stalked by the police there. It was strange like they had never seen out of state plates before. We would go into a gas station, right behind us they were there. Went into Walmart they were hanging around our car. We were polite and kind as always and they kept seeming as though we were some thug punk kids. Pretty ridiculous. While in Texas we met up with our two friends we hiked the Appalachian trail with Rooster and Storm. Hung out with them for a bit let all of our dogs run wild playing there were six all together it was pure chaos. Rooster had said we would have luck going and playing music in Galvenston, Texas so we went and met some pretty interesting characters. Played all day and made out fairly well and both said lets get outta here.. :) Started out on the road late at night drove through Dallas and into Oklahoma, which is gorgeous. Woke up and lazyed around and yet again started driving. Machetes birthday was the first and he wanted nothing more than to be in the rocky mountains. So we pushed on. On his birthday we drove through the pan handle of Texas which was actually nice. While driving we kept seeing signs for a steak house saying "FREE 72oz STEAK!!" and Machete being Machete said i want that for my birthday world. We stopped at the famous steak house Machete asking for a free steak (the deal was it was free if you ate it in an hour) and instead the gave him a free meal prime rib, baked potatoe, salad, lots of rolls, and cookies!!! How amazing and the cookies were an aditional hook up cause the waitress loved us :) YAY!! Leaving the steak house we stopped to get gas and saw a hitcher on the side trying to get to Cali. And so we scooped him and said we would take him to Albuquerque , New Mexico instead we brought him to Colorado. We felt a little bad it seemed he wanted to keep riding but we have a small car with dogs and were more than welcome to pick up hitchers but not long term riders :) We were going to head to the woods and hid out for a bit but thought making some money would be wise. Now were here in Denver. I think we have a new plan of going to a ski resort and getting work and hanging here for a bit to snow bum it..Austin your a genius!
Work and play loving were we are going to explore some more. We have A LOT of pictures and videos we shall upload soon just have to get a new chord! So be prepared!

The Beach Life

Headed to the coast...We made those chili dogs and boy were they amazing! I was also the first night with the police wondering what a Connecticut car was doing in the back of a Walmart parking lot, not having people come park and sleep to often, we new it was bound to happen. They definitely got a kick out of us being as outgoing and silly as we are. Woke up in the morning and said New Orleans here we come. New Orleans is a pretty sweet spot all of the old building and the art was amazing. There were also alot of musicians playing on the street as expected, some were absolutely incredable. The parking there was ridiculously expensive and we were just craving the beach so we took of to check out Baton Rouge. Now Baton Rouge was one of the weirdest cities i have ever been to it was crazy there was no one walking around hanging out and we were in a huge city, creepy. We had driven all over it was a dead zone, and it was Sunday, what is up with that!! Headed to the coast officially after some sleep. Next day we ended up at Holly Beach, Louisiana, i think will remain as one of the most memorable times, we just crashed there for a few days  allowed to just camp right on the beach!! We spent our days picking up trash all over the beach, covered quite a section. Collected alot of seashells, really went seashell crazy :) Played in the ocean and hung out with the VERY few people that came, and when i say very the beach was basically deserted. One of the guys we met Mark was very intersested in our travels and our beach clean up gave us one of his catches, a tasty trout!! Thank you again!! At night the mosquitoes were unlike any i have ever been around BRUTAL.. both of us are covered we used bug spray and everything they were not even bothered by it! AHHH!! So at night we would walk along the beach and dance :) until we were ready to run into the tent as fast as possible to avoid the crazy bugs. The sunset and stars at night were beyond beautiful. It was a completely peaceful, besides the bugs, part of our adventure.
Leaving today we saw wild alligators!! Got a popped tire were a lovely couple Shelby and Jarrett stopped to help us out, Thank you!! They were both lovely.
Now we are in Houston, Texas.

And it begins

Well the adventure has begun, we left thursday afternoon from atlanta, and headed up I-75 to Lafayette Georgia where Pigeon Mountain is located. It was getting close to dark when we finally made it to camp so we quickly set up the tent and cooked up some dinner. The sun was finally disappearing behind the trees when we decided to gear up and take a late night stroll to hood overlook about three miles away from sawmill where we were camped. The moon was beautiful that night because it was a day or two after the full phase and the clouds were painted across it coming from the left and right in small tight spear like shapes. After it, the moon, got just above the clouds a truck full of locals came up to escape their daily lives from the valley below so we decided to head back to camp. We slept like babies that night because we were back in our element out in the woods. The next morning we hiked to Rock Town a short distance away and spend the morning bouldering and climbing on top of huge outcroppings. We left Rock Town around three and we headed off again, this time taking I-59 down through Alabama to Montgomery where we found a Walmart to call home for the night. That brings us to today where we have spend the majority of the time singing in the car and driving. We took a small detour on our way south to drive through greenboro and marion Alabama while on the drive there we stopped to get gas and while we were there a young dog was roaming the parking lot skinny as a rail. Both of us heartbroken at the state of this handsome and happy dog even in the state he was in decided to give him a food dish with water and a bag of dog food. We had stayed for a while and hung out with him hoping to convince someone to take him, but it wasn't today that he would find a home. We are staying in high hope that he will find one soon. We got in the car and drove away wishing we had enough room for him.  Looked in the back seat and saw how hapy and healthy our dogs are, how sad it was that a dog that sweet could be left like that. As we continued our drive from the gas station we took a look, on our detour, at old plantation homes and saw small town USA. Our journey has brought us through US route 10 along the coast in Mississippi and towards the border of Louisiana where we plan to head tomorrow to play music and make money. Looks like the night is calming down and its about time to make chili cheese dogs!

A little back track before the trek

All began when two silly hiker trash kids met hiking the Appalachian trail...
We met in Virginia making our hike all the way to Maine a 2,200 mile trek. While hiking the best way to get to towns and resupply is to hitch hike. And how easy is it to hitch hike, unbelievably. So we decided to just catch rides and go where ever, after hiking halfway. In doing that we began to go to so many different places going all over the east, Machete and I with our two dogs Talya and Smelly Ellie. And now we are going on the same journey all over the west, this time we have a car, making carrying instruments easier. Playing music in towns is how we are able to travel, paying for car expenses and food for us and our dogs. Sometimes it gets hard but we always are smiling :). While playing in all the state and national parks we will be doing what we can to help out in any way. Also staying at self sustaining farms, working and learning from them.
We will be documenting all of our journey the good and the bad. Show our lifestyle we love living and all the incredible people we encounter along the way.
